Do you have a strong background in in vitro toxicology, with hands on experience with cell-free pulmonary models of lung surfactant function inhibition? Do you thrive in multidisciplinary collaborations? Then we have an exciting research opportunity. The National Research Centre of the Working Environment (NFA) in Copenhagen invites applications for a Ph.D. position joining our research projects aimed at testing occupational relevant aerosols in vitro, evaluating risks and advancing regulatory acceptance of alternative methods.
Hands on research using a cell-free in vitro model The Toxicology group at NFA consists of researchers at all levels; all motivated by and actively working on improving occupational health at Danish workplaces. The group is well established with good laboratory facilities.
The Ph.D. position is affiliated to the research program “Forøget fokus på forskning i kemisk arbejdsmiljø” and will closely collaborate with other projects. The aim of the Ph.D. project is to further develop lung surfactant function measurements as a strong alternative to animal experiments for inhalation toxicity. You will use methods already implemented in the research group, test single as well as mixtures of chemicals for inhibition of lung surfactant function. Within the project, you are expected to prepare the results and write manuscripts for peer-review publishing. The position will include teaching and a stay abroad in a different research environment.
As part of the research group, we expect you also to contribute to the overall activities, strategies, and scientific development of the group.
Our new colleague Candidates should have a MSc degree in toxicology, biochemistry, biology or similar.
