Do you want to help protect freedom and democracy using your extraordinary skills within AI and Machine Learning? DDIS AI Center of Excellence researches and develops AI that aids the analysts of DDIS in figuring out what is really going on in the hot spots around the world. We are on a mission to fundamentally change how DDIS operates as an intelligence service via AI and we would like you to be part of it.
DDIS works with massive and growing amounts of data that needs to be standardized, labelled and analyzed automatically. AI can play a crucial role in all of these steps and in the way the data is transformed into valuable intelligence. We are looking for new colleagues to join DDIS AI Center of Excellence. You will be working with other AI experts to develop the AI solutions that DDIS depends on for the future. You get the opportunity to dive into very challenging and important ML problems, work with brilliant colleagues, while serving a greater cause.
You and your background
We imagine that you have a Ph.D. in the area of natural language processing (NLP) or similar competences achieved through work with NLP implementation and exploitation. You have experience in one or more of the following:
- Text classification
- NER, entity resolution, etc.
- Knowledge (Graph) extraction from text
- Automatic translation
- Speech-to-text
- Large Language Models
- Fine-tuning transformer models, particularly encoders like BERTs
- Pretraining transformer networks
- Speech-to-text models like Whisper
- MLOps, e.g. Docker and orchestration
- Vector databases
Salary and terms of employment follows the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant professional organization, depending on your educational background. Additionally, it will be possible to negotiate a qualification allowance. The average working hours is 37 hours per week including a paid lunch break. The position includes a pension scheme paid by DDIS. As an employee in DDIS, you are subject to some specific conditions. It is a requirement that you can get a security clearance and can maintain the clearance throughout your employment.

The Danish Defense Intelligence Service (Danish: Forsvarets Efterretningstjeneste, FE) is respectively Denmark’s foreign and military intelligence agency, the Danish military’s security agency and the national IT security authority, that ensures a strong cyber defense.
DDIS works to protect Denmark and the Danish democracy. We gain our knowledge through focused intelligence work and use it to assess combat and counsel current and future threats. We do this by obtaining and analyzing information about situations in foreign countries that are relevant to Denmark and Danish interests.
